The Original Million Dollar Mermaid

Born in Australia in the late 1800s, Annette Kellerman was a professional swimmer, vaudeville performer, hollywood star and author.

Swimming was Annette’s cure for childhood disability and catapult to international stardom. An unbeatable competitor in her day, she made several attempts to cross the English channel and exhibited her aquatic talents in popular vaudeville performance; inventing the sport of synchronized swimming. In 1907, she inadvertently triggered a seismic shift in women’s swimwear fashion when she was arrested for indecent exposure for wearing a form-fitting bodysuit of her own design - introducing the world to the first one-piece bathing suit. You will find her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A revolutionary icon, Annette was a catalyst for societal change, inspiring women to celebrate their independence, vitality and strength.

Mystical, Sensual

The Sacrum Collection is inspired by the shape and mystic of the sacrum or ‘sacred bone’, which is believed to be where the soul resides in the body. It is the triangular bone at the base of the spine.

Triangular shapes and geometric forms appear throughout the collection as colour blocks or cut outs. The seductive colour palette includes vintage red, bronze rust, indigo blue, azalea pink and yellow. The collection is influenced by Bauhaus design and Gary Hume paintings, renowned for their use of flat, bold colour and minimalist style.
